Summary – The urban territory of Turin has proven to be one of the most interesting from the ornithological point of view on a national perspective. The Meisino Natural Reserve is located inside the municipality of Turin to the north of the city along with the nearby hills. The confluence of the rivers Dora Riparia and Stura di Lanzo into the Po create an ideal habitat for many bird species which find a place there for resting, breeding and wintering. In this document we report the recordings of all the data regarding the avifauna of that river stretch during the years between 1984 and 2014. Species observed are 215, which make up 63% of the known species in the Province of Turin and 55% of the species reported in the Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta regions. Hereby we give a detailed description of the ornithological species frequenting the Natural Reserve. All those species are a proof to the noteworthy importance of the area from a naturalistic point of view. Furthermore, we illustrate and highlight the problems of a natural area which has been absorbed into the urban territory.
